hi! i’m macy, owner and artist at homebody photography.
-
most days, it will just be me behind my sony camera, carrying a sandwich bag full of ways to make your images feel textured and timeless. if we are lucky, my dad or boyfriend will come along as assistants to my creative antics and the calm to my chaos.
but what i wish you could see are the high school friends who have called me an artist since graduation, my boyfriend who is perpetually helping me refine these processes, other photographers who have mentored and supported me, new friends who i’ve met through making art, my therapist who taught me to dream again, and my family, who has supported the risk of starting a business with cheering and hugging. those are the other people behind the camera.

i began to heal when i regarded my own skin and bones as home. i painted my house pistachio green and covered the walls in art that is gentle. i started watering my plants in the bathtub and letting dishes build up in the sink. i found people who feel like home, and learned how to set boundaries around those who do not. i started taking naps, calling myself an artist, and identifying as a homebody.
i want you to find home in your body, to know that you are safe. i want to acknowledge your strength and the fragility of being human. i also want to sit beside you in the places that feel like home, with the people who make it so. i want to notice the colors of your walls or the long expanses of sky that inform your sense of belonging.
homebody is a tribute to the people and places that feel like home.

there is more to be said about the process itself, from vision boards to email threads. you can find those details on the investments page. here, i want to tell you how it should feel.
a homebody session is kind of like a late night dinner with old friends. the candles are lit and the food is warm. someone shows up late, bowls are passed family style, wine is spilled, and everyone feels right at home.
when you invite someone over for dinner, you probably pick up your house. i’m unsure why we do this, because usually the people walking through the door are all too familiar with what makes our lives messy and beautiful. this is what taking your photos is like: you put on clothes that feel like you and maybe take a little bit more time getting ready. but really, it is my job to document the essence of you, not just the best of you.
your session will be full of movement and energy, with very little emphasis on planned poses or the best angles.
we will be stewards of the spaces we are in, metaphorically taking our shoes off at the door. we will do the same kindness to our bodies, not using language that shames or harms.
i believe that home should be intimate, messy, and safe. a homebody session should feel the same.
Photo experiences with Macy are unmatched. Her attention to detail and confidence in her craft exude excellence.
- Cade Lowin, lovers engagement session
“My experience with Homebody was awesome! Not only did I get great photos from my session, but I also had a genuinely fun time working with Macy and felt like she genuinely cared not only for my session but for me as well. She is extremely talented, genuine, and fun.”
- Johnny Coronado, humans grad session
I have never felt so at home in front of a camera. Macy is the gentlest photographer I've ever worked with, but her vision and direction remain so clear. I'm not always comfortable getting my photos taken, but being in front of Macy's lens felt like I was being photographed by an old friend. I've never been so satisfied or felt so confident after receiving a gallery of photos. She helped me feel so beautiful and loved- before, during, and long after our session.
